I've been having this weird issue with my mixing lately every since I set up a template for my mixer with a drum bus (wet) and (dry) and melody and vocal buses that when I use over a certain amount of effects my drums start sounding shitty and phased even if the effects weren't on any of the drum channels. For example I have 2 melodies. I throw an eq, delay and reverb on one and then try to put a gross beat on the other and suddenly my drums (only if bussed to my drum chnnel) get a phased sound and sound sort of ducked and just overall shitty.

It always solves the issue when I manually take a drum channel off of the bus for that sound but then that defeats the purpose of my bus.

Try this way:

Make one drum bus, split that drum bus into Drum Wet and Drum Dry. Send full signal to drum dry and no signal to drum wet(signal via the routing knob). Add any reverb or something on the wet bus and then blend that using the signal amount knob. It'll never phase - you can also send the Drum Wet/Drum Dry signal to another Drums final bus so that you can then add another plethora of effects or stuff to make stuff sound bigger or just to have a signal with everything in one place. I posted my mix template here a while ago and it has this similar routing for Drums Bus, Percussion Bus, Low End Bus, Hi End Bus, Vocals bus and Fx Bus. You can check that out.

All beats with "Prod. by Sez", are produced by me.

Check them out and be a critic.
